Abdominal breathing is one of the greatest techniques you'll learn during your five-week Beginners Yoga Level 1 Course.

It is the practice of drawing the breath into the belly by breathing into the bottom of your lungs and engaging the movement of the diaphragm. 

In contrast to the normal, shallow breathing in the chest that we have developed in our everyday lives, abdominal breathing alleviates anxiety and promotes feelings of well-being.

Although shallow breathing may seem more normal to us, it actually requires more effort than breathing into the belly, and it can make us feel more anxious.
