VOCAL WORKSHOP WITH SUDHANSHU SHARMA
An internationally respected Music Teacher and Performer
Sunday 27th of May 2018 – 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Your Voice surely does have the power to heal you and help discover a ‘new You’ it’s hidden under the layers of the minds clutter and hesitations.

You will learn, explore and discover your chanting voice and its possibilities whilst being guided in a nurturing and supportive environment in the yoga of sound.

Whilst a four-stringed Indian drone instrument, called a Tanpura, provides the backdrop to paint your picture of the sound vibrations emanating through you.

You will experience the deep healing vibrations of Nāda Yoga – the Yoga of sound in which you meditate and contemplate on single vowel sounds which create magic in your voice and your heart.

The cosmic sounds of Indian Music – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha & Ni will also be a subject of our study and experience together as we activate these sounds within and align these sonic practices with your spiritual journey.

Together we’ll  work on the vocal movements of Indian Music used for warming up and training the muscles in creating fluidity in your voice.

You’ll learn an Indian Mantra/Kīrtan and together we’ll chant our hearts out for a rich vibrational, nurturing and healing experience.

GET READY FOR IT!

You will then experience the rich and therapeutic sounds of Indian Classical Music through a live performance given by two master musicians: Sudhanshu Sharma and Maharishi Ravals at Yoga For The Soul Retreats teaching space at South Narrabeen Surf Club.

Come, let the Divine sing through you!

There will be chairs for your comfort or bring a cushion along if you prefer to sit on the carpet.

THE IMMENSE BENEFITS OF THE WORKSHOP:

  • Supplement your Yoga practices with the Ancient Indian metaphysical system of Nāda Yoga – The Yoga of Sound

MASTER MUSICIANS

Sudhanshu Sharme

Sudhanshu Sharma.JPG

A Gold Medalist in Post-Graduation in Music from University of Delhi, Sudhanshu was initiated into music by Guru Shri Lakheshwar Choudhary from Assam.

Later on he moved to New Delhi to train under Pandit Baldev Raj Verma, the prime disciple of Pandit Amarnath and one of the torch-bearers of the Indore Style of singing popularized by the legendary Ustad Amir Khan Saheb.

After a rigorous and meticulous training under his Guru, Sudhanshu’s singing rose to meet the professional standards and a fresh aesthetic appeal. True to the traditions of the ‘Indore Gharana’, his singing is marked by a serene and reposeful elaboration of the Raga, away from the ostentation and showiness that usually grips a musical performance.

He seeks to remain in constant touch with his innermost musical impulses, exploring ways to give supple voice to the myriad ideas which surround his imagination. His recitals endeavor to create a dense, rich and radiant structure of the Raga – and nothing else!

An approved Artist of the All India Radio, New Delhi, Sudhanshu has just begun his career as a performer of Hindustani Classical Vocal with many performances all across the country and overseas performances in the Middle East, Europe and Bali (Indonesia).

A recipient of the prestigious Tushar Pandit Memorial Gold Medal and Smt. V. Bani  Bai Ram Memorial Medal in Music, he is an internationally respected Guru as well with students all across the globe.

He has many musical retreats, Lecture-Demonstrations and Music Talks to his credit.

He strongly believes that Art should have a bigger purpose of bringing hearts together and fostering better human relationships full of Peace and Love – both external and internal.

Maharishi Ravals

Maharshi has been immersed in Indian classical  music since early childhood. He  started  his  musical  journey under the  guidance of  his grandfather, late Shree Gajanan  Raval, and later with the late Pt. Nandan Mehta. He regularly visits India to study with Pt. Pooran Maharaj in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

He has won first prize for the All India Youth Festival tabla competition. Currently, he lives and works in Sydney.

Since migrating to Australia he has played with many Indian classical artists such as Pt Debiprasad Chaterjee, as well as bringing his tabla into Kirtan with Carmella Geetanjali Baynie and and Jazz with Sandy Evans, flamenco with Chachy Peñalver and African music with Lucky Lartey.

My family owns a small cabin by a lake in British Columbia, Canada. To my heart, the water of this lake is so beautiful and clear, imbibed with loving energy and life. My experience being your student for such a brief time was/is like that lake!

It has been an honor to hear you play. It has been an even bigger honor to learn this “mystical” music from you that has fascinated me since I was in my teens. Thank you for opening your heart to us to share your beautiful song and voice. I feel as though I am permanently expanded ever upwards to God and all Divine.
