5 Signs You Need to Take a Holiday

Is there anyone out there who doesn’t like a holiday once in a while? Probably not. But I’ll bet that even though you may love the idea of taking a trip, you may not realise when you desperately need to take one!

That’s why I want you to be aware of these five signs that you need a holiday and give you some ideas for a holiday that can leave you feeling refreshed and revitalised.

5 Reasons You Need to Take a Holiday

There’s a difference between wanting and needing a holiday. You probably need a holiday if…

  1. You’re Feeling Overwhelmed by the Daily Grind

Do you have such a busy schedule that you barely notice the days flying by? Between family obligations, your career, and other aspects of your life, it’s easy to feel like there isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done. As women, we tend to put everyone else’s needs ahead of our own- so I’m guessing you may not be prioritising taking care of your physical, mental, and emotional needs when you’re so busy taking care of everyone else

If you’re constantly stressed, having trouble sleeping at night due to a busy mind, and regularly feeling a pang of anxiety, then chances are you are overwhelmed and you need a holiday to recenter yourself!

  2. You’re Living Vicariously Through Your Friends and Family

Are you using the few spare moments you have in your day gazing longingly at photos on Facebook of your friends or family members on holiday? Maybe you’re imagining how wonderful it must be to temporarily escape from your daily responsibilities to explore a beautiful new place and try new activities.

If you’re feeling envious of others for taking holidays and feeling like it’s just not possible for you, it’s time to re-evaluate exactly why you think that is and reframe how valuable a holiday can be for your mental health. A holiday is not just a luxury- it may be a powerful way to regain balance in your life.

  3. You’ve Lost Your Inspiration

Have you ever felt like you are just going through the motions of your day without really feeling or enjoying anything? Are things that you once felt passionate about no longer exciting or important to you?

When you lose your connection with your inner self, you can begin to feel lost and unmotivated. It can be scary to feel disconnected and directionless, and you may question the decisions you’ve made that led you to this point. Sometimes all you need is to take some time out to reconnect with yourself, and a holiday is just the thing to help you do that!

  4. Your Routine has Become Unbearably Monotonous

Whether you suffer from chronic stress or are simply feeling bored, unmotivated, and frustrated with daily life, it can be hard to get out of bed in the morning. When you dread each day because it’s just like the last, you may turn to unhealthy foods and drinks to help you cope.

Travel is a reminder that there’s a whole wide world out there outside of your bubble, and all sorts of ways to live. Getting out of your comfort (or in this case discomfort) zone can be a powerful way to inspire you and refresh your zest for life

  5. You’re Craving Connection with Loved Ones

Sometimes you’re so busy with your life that you begin to feel out of touch with the people you care about, even if you see them regularly. What’s worse is that when you’re feeling stressed, tired, and overwhelmed, you may not be capable of being the patient, giving, and understanding partner, friend, mother, daughter, or sister that you would like to be.

Taking a holiday with someone you want to reconnect with can be a great way to nurture your relationship. There’s nothing quite like spending quality time with that special friend you care about, especially in a neutral environment away from your usual worries.

So, there you have it- five signs that it’s time to treat yourself to a holiday! But remember, a holiday doesn’t have to mean you’re on a beach sipping cocktails or rushing around with the whole family trying to see as many sites as possible in a limited time.

A holiday can be a time for you to intentionally focus inwards, be still, and learn tools and techniques that can transform your daily life so that you can ultimately be happier and calmer.
